DESCRIPTION OF ITINERARY:
DAY 01: PUNO – SUASI + UROS & TAQUILE ISLANDS: Early morning between 6:45 – 7:00am a driver and guide will pick you up from your hotel in Puno (Peru) and take you until main port, where is waiting for you a motor boat. A boat ride of 15 minutes by fast boat to the Island of Uros. Fishermen and hunters inhabit the floating islands of Uros. The residents of the Uros use the totora reed (aquatic plant) that grows in the lake, to create life conditions and ensure that the islands stay afloat. The dense roots that generate these plants support the island. The Uros use the totora reed to build their islands, houses, for cooking, eating, and to sale in the city of Puno, besides to barter (exchange) with products such as quinoa, potatoes, barley and wool. This culture appeared over 3000 years ago and the people have spoken as a language Uro puquina, the last person who still spoke the Uru Puquina language died in 1951, now a day the population speak Aimara Language. On Uros live more than 2000 people, divided into 80 artificial islands built with totora reeds, where reed boats (balsa) are the unique method of transportation which is also used for fishing.Then a trip to Taquile Island located 37 km away from Puno, (1:30 hours by fast boat). Upon arrival to Taquile Island the families will wait you as a warm welcome. Then a short visit and explanation by your guide about their textiles, famous for its craft production (declared cultural heritage of humanity). Taquile Island was a prison during the colonial period, currently live 2000 people approximately, where people wear a special hat for example regarding to single, married or authorities. Then we continue to Suasi Island which is located 70km away from Puno, a trip of 2:00 hours (one way) by fast boat. Arrival to Suasi Island, where the staff of hotel will wait you as a warm welcome. Lunch included at the hotel. In the afternoon explore the Island visiting the library and hike to the top of the island, on the way you will observe vicuñas and alpacas besides the magnificent sunset on the Titicaca the highest navigable lake in the world. Dinner included at the hotel. Overnight on Suasi Island.
DAY 02: SUASI ISLAND – PUNO: Breakfast included at hotel. Today you can to practice kayaking and navigate around the Island on Lake Titicaca. Suasi Island is northeast of Lake Titicaca (Big Lake), it has 43 acres where lies an original lodge which is solar powered. Suasi is a private island where ecological activities is conducted as walking, observation of camelids as vicunas and alpacas, flora and fauna and sport adventures as kayaking. The hotel has 24 rooms of rustic appearance well equipped with lake view, gourmet restaurant with light and candle, steam sauna with eucalyptus leaves, game room, a small nature museum and a private cottage suite (Andean cottage) of 02 rooms on a small private beach. Suasi is a magical Island to disconnect of the world, indeed a perfect place to end or begin a journey in Peru, especially for quiet relaxation, not to mention the novo Andean cuisine prepared with local produce. Finally a return trip by boat to Puno.

Be aware with low rates and types of motor boats that some travel companies from Puno offer tours to Lake Titicaca by semifast boat instead by speed boat.
